VLOG: Cooking salmon with brussels sprouts for lunch
I really need a better camera setup so I can use both my hands making these videos – I suppose it would be more fun to see the preparation part, plus I do have to say cooking with one hand is nearly impossible. But there will definitely be many more seeing as these are extremely fun and easy to make. Hope you like it!
// Ma pean selliste videote tegemiseks mingi parema kaameralahenduse välja mõtlema – esiteks oleks ilmselt toredam ka ettevalmistusi, hakkimist jms. vaadata, teiseks on ühe käega toiduvalmistamine ikka pagana ebamugav. Igatahes kavatsen ma taolisi veel filmida, sest neid on lõbus ja lihtne teha. Loodan, et meeldib!
Make sure you watch the video in HD quality! // Parimaks videoelamuseks vaata seda HD-kvaliteediga!
1. Debone the salmon, cut into proper sized steaks.
2. Bring a pot of water to the boil. Add the brussels sprouts and cook for 7-10 minutes.
3. Season the salmon with salt, tarragon, marjoram and pepper.
4. Smear a teaspoonful of soft butter all over the top of the fillet. Replace with olive oil if you’re afraid to live a little.
5. Grab some baking paper and wrap the salmon into parcels. Keeps the heat and moisture in, leaving the salmon juicy and succulent as hell.
6. Cook the salmon in a preheated 175C oven for 10-15 minutes. Check it before you pull it out, be careful not to overcook it!
7. Chop up the bacon, slice the fennel and garlic.
8. Fry off the bacon, add garlic, then fennel. Once they’re cooked all the way through, throw in the sprouts. Add a tablespoonful of butter, toss, serve.

1. Eemalda lõhe seest luud, lõika sobiva suurusega steikideks.
2. Pane potitäis vett keema. Lisa keevale veele rooskapsad ja keeda 7-10 minutit.
3. Maitsesta lõhe soola, estragoni, majoraani ja pipraga.
4. Määri kummalegi fileetükile teelusikatäis toasooja võid ja hõõru sisse. Asenda oliivõliga, kuid võid kardad.
5. Haara küpsetuspaberi lehed ja meisterda neist lõhele taskud. See hoiab kuumuse ja niiskuse sees, jättes lõhe tõeliselt mahlaseks ja pehmeks.
6. Küpseta lõhet eelsoojendatud 175C ahjus 10-15 minutit. Kontrolli enne välja võtmist, kas lõhe on küps, aga ära teda üle küpseta!
7. Haki peekon, viiluta fenkol ja küüslauk.
8. Prae peekon, lisa küüslauk, siis fenkol. Kui nad on läbi küpsenud, viska sekka kapsad. Lisa supilusikatäis võid, sega läbi, serveeri.
Mother-daughter trip and the world’s prettiest baby boy
When you realize your best friend had a baby six months ago and you’ve only met him once in his whole entire life, you quickly plan an entire day to grab your best little travel-buddy (the Ladybug) and take a trip to go see them. The 2,5h busride there went great, buses these days have tablets with movies for each seat so the Ladybug watched some cartoons, sang songs and chatted with me and only got a little cranky and impatient when we were almost there. Then we went to the market and bought 2kg of delicious, super-sweet strawberries and decided to take a walk in stead of a cab in the beautiful weather. We spent the whole entire day with auntie E and handsome little baby Kenneth at their place cuddling, eating strawberries, eating E’s delicious chicken (with cream cheese, pesto and pine nuts, mmmm…) and reminiscing. Time flew by and before we knew it it was time to rush back and step on the bus home at 8 p.m. Ladybug slept all the way back and gave me the chance to finally see “Ted”. That awkward moment when the bus is so quiet you could hear crickets if there were any and SOMEONE snorts loudly and bursts out in laughter…
Lesson learned – it’s really not that hard to just be a friend and go that extra mile for your friendship. Every single minute spent together is absolutely worth the while! <3
Iga koosveedetud hetk on ilmselgelt vaeva väärt! <3

The weather was absolutely wonderful when we were on our way to auntie J and baby Simona. I can’t believe it’s Spring already – it seems like it was yesterday when Summer was through and a dreadful long winter was upon us. Wasn’t long and dreadful at all, if anything, it’s pretty surprising how late the snow came and how fast it melted. Not that I’m complaining, I can’t wait for another adventurous Summer!

A night with friends
The only photo we have of our lovely evening yesterday is one J took of the pizza toppings. 😀
// Ainus pilt, mis meil eilsest imetoredast õhtust on, on see foto, mille J tegi pitsakattematerjalist. 😀
We had been planning last night for a week, the Ladybug was losing her mind in anticipation (all day yesterday she kept demanding to go and see Simona NOW and when I told her she had to wait a couple more hours she was literally pissed off at me) and I couldn’t wait to see my awesome friend and enjoy some decent quality time. That, and also the fact that she makes the world’s most delicious pizza that I had been dreaming of for a long time. So she made us pizza, we enjoyed some wine, the kids played so incredibly nicely together and gave us the chance to really talk… it was a marvelous night, we should really do it more often. By the way, the reason we didn’t take photos (which is very unusual for the two of us) was that I decided to do a vlog in stead. 🙂

Green thumb in training: My baby herb garden
I don’t always buy different kinds of seeds, potting soil, herb soil and pots, but when I do, I try to plant a herb garden to grow on my window pane. I tried growing sprouts both in the dark (under the kitchen table) on top of underfloor heating and on the window pane. Dark and warm worked best and the sprouts placed there grew really fast. I’ve got parsley, basil, dill, chives, oregano and lettuce. All very basic everyday herbs, just what we need and use most. If they grow up to become actual plants, that is. I also had watercress and sage, but they died when we left for Finland and I couldn’t find a sitter for my babies. I thought they’d all die, but they were feisty little troopers. The peppermint has failed to rise to the occasion, but I’m still giving it time. (Green) fingers crossed!

Villeroy & Boch: Cutlery and porcelain fit for a princess
The porcelain comes in an adorable and a tiny bit nostalgic metal suitcase // Nõud on pakitud imearmsasse ja pisut nostalgilisse metallkohvrikesse
While her boring old parents eat off plain old IKEA plates using IKEA cutlery, our fairy princess has her food served on Villeroy & Boch porcelain. My mommy gave her a Funny Zoo porcelain set and the Kiddy Bears cutlery set a while back and then gave me a hard time about not letting Ladybug use them. 😀 In my defense, I wanted her to be a little older so she’d appreciate them more and… well, grip them a little more firmly. Jokes aside, she’s very happy with her adorable little sets and she has very specific preferences for each meal. If she wants to eat honey straight out of the pot, she asks for the “little bear spoon”, some days nothing goes but her “lion mug” etc. Did you guys have a special plate or bowl in your childhood? I remember two – I had one at home with geese and one at grandma’s place that had a baby deer and a traffic light, both of which I loved to death. Asking a kid to eat until the picture on the bottom of the dish shows is a pretty clever parenting move. Worked on me every single time!

Hard knock life
The Ladybug wondering about child labor laws
I don’t think there’s one single person I know who hasn’t heard me bitch and whine about how incredibly hard it was to soak and scrape the old wallpaper off the walls. I feel like coming clean now – I had help.
