Our wonderful group of baby mamas decided we should arrange a series of lunch dates and I, of course, took charge of hosting the first one. I decided that preparing hot meals wasn’t a good idea (by the time you’re done chasing the baby or changing her diaper, your food will be cold) so I made a Caesar salad (which had to be made with frillice in stead of roman lettuce, which is sold in bunches of seven salad leaves that cost 3€ each, ridiculous) and two different types of quiche: one with caramelized onion and tuna, the other one with spinach, garlic and feta cheese (both topped with cherry tomatoes and grated cheese). For dessert we had chocolate with chocolate: the chocolate mousse in the little basket I showed you earlier.
We discussed yesterday how lucky we are to have our amazing group where everyone is active, full of ideas and so much fun to hang out with. Our events and gatherings are always a huge success and this one was no exception. The babies get to socialize and teach each other useful skills (for example, our little lady is standing up a lot more after yesterday’s playdate) and we get to discuss motherhood, relationships and ventilate emotions that everyone else can relate to. I can’t even begin to explain what a major privilege it is to have that in my life, not to mention the great friends I’ve made thanks to it 🙂
All in all: everyone was very happy with the turnout and me and H got to have leftover quiche for breakfast today. Not to mention I still have a huge bowl of chocolate mousse in the fridge 😉
Quiche with caramelized onion and tuna
Ladybug was one happy puppy – I don’t let her have all her books because she keeps reading them with her teeth. I made an exception for all her little guests so she was pretty thrilled!
How feisty is baby Simona in her cool little vintage leggings? Auntie’s little sweetheart!
I served the salad as a buffet – croutons, parmesan, dressing and chicken all in different serving bowls. I was clearly too hungry to plate it up nicely so this had to do.
Baby K does BLW (baby-led weaning, means eating whole foods on her own) so she comes equipped with a bib and a special suit for eating!
Omnomnomnom! Need I say more?
The whole crew – our little girl with one hand in her toy chest. Classic!
