Above: tomatoes, potatoes, beans, red onions, carrots, courgettes, herbs and sunflowers from K who came over and was kind enough to bring along all these colorful (and FLAVORFUL) homegrown treasures.
Below: carrots, beetroots, potatoes, onions and a huge turnip from H’s grandparents’ magical garden.
It’s not Christmas, but it’s pretty damn close.
// Üleval: tomatid, oad, punased sibulad, porgandid, suvikõrvitsad, ürdid ja päevalilled – armas K tuli meile külla ja tõi külakostiks kõik need imeilusad värvilised (ja NII MAITSVAD) pärlid.
All: porgandid, peedid, kartulid, sibulad ja suur kaalikas H vanavanemate võluaiast.
Doesn’t cooking with home grown vegetables make you feel like a better cook? I feel like I can’t possibly mess a recipe when cooking with freshly picked veggies. Bonus points if you pick them yourself. 😛
the thing is you pretty much can’t mess a recipe up with fresh veggies – which is also a big problem with cooking from cook books if you live in our climate. we only have decent tomatoes a month a year, and other than that, following any italian recipes is a joke. there’s no flavor there. 🙁
so yes, fresh veggies are, indeed, a cook’s dream 🙂
