Baby girl wasn’t planning on falling asleep so I had to resort to desperate measures.
When we went to see the doctor (a physiatrist, rehabilitation specialist or whatever it’s called in English) before the little bug was two months old, she was surprised by how responsive and “chatty” our little girl was. She said she sees thousands of children but none of them as socially active at such a young age. So that part is nothing new, baby has been very chatty and smiley “all her life”. She imitates our intonation by responding in her own kind of speech and reacts to some words and grimaces with loud giggles. I’ve also caught her loudly conversing with her toys in the privacy of her crib.
So what is new? Well, in comparison to one little Mia we know (who is a month younger), our princess is a late bloomer when it comes to holding up her head. We no longer need to support her head when holding her, but when on her stomach, she’ll only hold her head up high for a short while. Then she’ll huff and puff and eventually growl until picked up.
“Now pick me up or I swear to god I’ll scream!”
Another thing developing very fast is her coordination. She now (since 06.04, as documented) knows her hands are attached to her body and she can bring them to her mouth whenever she pleases, which just so happens to be all the time. I’ve noticed she now knows she can touch things like the patterns on her grandmother’s blouse or a toy held up close to her.
It’s very obvious that our little girl knows there’s more to life than lying around at a physical standstill and feels like she’s trapped in her little body. She refuses to lie down or sit in our laps, she demands to be carried around or at least be held up so it looks like she’s sitting by herself.
Wait, why do I suddenly feel like I’m describing Stewie? Better start watching my back…
Our little princess has more dresses in her wardrobe than her mother does and it’s no surprise she definitely looks a lot cuter in hers than I do in mine. Here’s one her daddy got for her from his business trip to Amsterdam a month ago:
Daddy has a good eye for dresses, doesn’t he?
This is what the little princess would look like if she hadn’t decided to sleep until noon (have I mentioned she’s an amazing sleeper?):
They have a lot of pretty things this season, unfortunately they cost money so getting them all isn’t an option. Here’s today’s addition to my closet:
Unfortunately, I had to leave this gorgeous piece of clothing behind because it was a tiny bit pricey for me… but if you’re luckier than I am, do go give it a loving home:
I thought it would be time soon so I got this cute triangle bikini. I do prefer bandeau bikinis, but let’s be honest – if you have the teensiest bit of boobage going on, it’ll probably not stay put when you take a dive. What’s great about Asos‘ bikinis is that you get to buy the top and bottom separately so you get to pick the perfect size and shape (mine are size 16 and size 10, a massive difference). Plus they’re very affordable. Go for it!
Don’t worry, we haven’t dropped off the face of the Earth, but we do have a lot going on. We’re almost done renovating and finding a place for all of our stuff, but at this very moment, a builder is at our place renovating the hallway (it was seriously hideous: huge dark brown built-in closets, disgusting linoleum flooring, crooked walls and ceilings with crackled water damaged paint). You can’t imagine the immense amount of rubbish that comes from tearing down old furniture and the crap it contains, not to mention how much time it all takes. We went and had a peek yesterday and the transformation is already unbelievable. Yes, we took before-pics and will definitely show you the turnout as well. We’ve also been getting a lot of new furniture and home decor (some of it from Helsinki) so we’ve really had our hands full. Hopefully we’ll be completely done renovating by next week, we’re doing the little bug’s room as well. She’ll have sky blue walls with clouds painted on them and hopefully one entire blackboard paint wall 🙂 Who wouldn’t enjoy drawing on walls, right?
We’re done with the princess’ swimming lessons now and are about to start going swimming without the “trainer”. She’s grown so much, we went for her monthly check up today (she turned three months yesterday, happy birthday to us!) and she is now 61 cm tall and weighs 6590g , which means she’s grown 14 cm and gained 4005g in three months. She’s still her calm and cheerful self, she sleeps all through the night (one tiny snack break early in the morning, then she continues to sleep until 10 a.m., sometimes longer), flirts with and smiles at everyone she sees and enjoys the privacy of her crib (where she has her baby mobile, her toys and her colorful bed linen). She’s now also capable of putting her hand to her mouth and sucking on it without first hitting herself in the eye a couple of times. Yay for learning!
All in all it’s a wonderful life full of amazing adventures and if turning on the laptop wouldn’t seem so time consuming, I’d definitely be blogging more.
I’m not the one to comment on other people’s parenting, but when we went to ladybug’s swimming lesson, I had some serious trouble holding my tongue in the dressing room… people, people, people! You have no business poking in your kids’ ears with cotton swabs!
How the hell did this happen? I want the spring back! There’s snow everywhere and according to the weather reports, it won’t be getting any better anytime soon. Lucky for me I can choose to stay in bed all day and watch season five of Private Practice (I loooove Private Practice). I’ve got it all figured out, I even brought the baby gym to bed so everyone’s happy and kept busy. 😀
I suppose it’s weird, me posting a thousand times a day and then not posting again for days, but once papa H got back from his business trip to Amsterdam I just couldn’t find the time. By the way, he brought both me and little ladybug beautiful summer dresses so I will be showing those off as soon as I bring out the camera.
Thank you so-so much for the great feedback, by the way. You can’t imagine how refreshing that type of dialogue is to someone who spends most of the day baby whispering. 🙂
Right. I’m off. Toodles!
That moment of shame and overwhelming sadness when you realize a tiny box of your favorite breakfast cereal costs 4,70 eur. 🙁
