It’s really good to know the right people in the right places – somehow we managed to get the princess a baby swimming appointment for this afternoon even though all the dates are booked until the end of April on their website. If all goes well and the bug loves it, we’ll video blog it for you later.
Tomorrow morning is cinema-day for our family. Solaris cinema (in the center of Tallinn) has these mother-baby sessions and we booked a couple of tickets to “We bought a zoo”. Anyone seen it yet? I hope the little lady enjoys the experience and lets us finish watching the movie. If not, I’ll at least have been able to get out of the house. 🙂
Thursday is of course an even more adventurous day for us – it’s baby’s first trip abroad. We’re going to visit my mom in Stockholm so there’s another challenge for us this week. Other than cuddling with “grandma” (how strange is it to think of your own mom as a grandmother, when do you get used to the thought?) and seeing some friends, I’m really looking forward to getting the ladybug a baby gym from Toys’R’us and having my favorite Japanese food (what can I say, they don’t serve authentic Asian food in Eastern Europe). Oh and Ikea, of course, I’ve already put together a list of what we need to get so I don’t completely lose my mind when we get there.
We were shopping for mommy necessities a few weeks ago and were about to pay when H spotted these mini-sunglasses (nice strategy, shop owners). Needless to say the amount of plastic they’re made of had absolutely nothing to do with the price, but after we had tried them on I had to get them. Practical buy? Nope, not quite.
What do you know! Princess was laying on the couch enjoying her toys and the sun, but she couldn’t really keep her eyes open. Problem solved!
I got up at really-early-o’clock this morning and couldn’t manage to fall back asleep so while H is out walking the dog and little miss sunshine is snoozing in her stroller out on the porch, I’m just sitting on the couch with my laptop and being my lazy self. We did some online toy shopping for the little lady earlier and I think we MAY have gone a bit overboard, but hey, nothing’s good enough, right?
I realized I never showed you any pictures of what baby looked like when she was born. We didn’t have the camera repaired in time so we only took some pictures with H’s phone, which kind of makes me very sad. Then again maybe I’m overcompensating for the fact that I don’t have any baby pictures of myself at all. You can click the pictures for closer inspection 🙂
Two days after birth
Baby slept the whole way and we spent the day cuddling with a bunch of relatives. She’s a little cranky and overtired (very adventurous and tiring day) so I need to help mr Dad put her to bed. Here’s our party outfit of the day for you to admire until we get back to you tomorrow. Sleep tight!
Worn out from the long car trip (which she slept through). Tights, body and dress all from Polarn o. Pyret
The little bug usually wakes up once a night, sometimes twice and sometimes she sleeps all through the night. Last night was one of those REALLY good nights and when she first started waking up it was already light outside. Since H has an alarm clock on his night stand, I wake him up to ask him what time it is so I know whether to just feed the baby or pick her up and let her know it’s morning. “Half past”, he replied this time. “Half past what?”, I asked. “Half past nine!” So I pick the princess up, feed her, change her diaper, sing her some songs, fish some boogers out of her nose (she absolutely hates it, nothing soothing about that) and feed her some more. All the while thinking how great everything is going and how we’re definitely going to make it all the way to Tartu (which is a two hour drive away) with a happy baby. I glance at the clock just to make sure we’re on schedule… WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT’S HALF PAST SEVEN?!?!?!?!!?!
Needless to say we’re nowhere near schedule. Clearly, I need to keep track of my own freaking time.
Luckily, it’s hard to be pissed when Miss Ubercuteness is in sight:
Have an awesome day, everyone!
We decided to go for a little 7km family stroll in the beautiful sunny weather. I’m of course embracing my new blogger status so the camera got to tag along for documentation. We were already on our way back home when a certain little lady started to loudly demand food, other than that she slept like a… baby. In conclusion: two hours very well spent!
Good morning, everyone! I was woken up at half past eight like I am every morning (baby is a fantastic sleeper) by a very happy little ladybug. We took the fun to the changing table where the princess pooped all over me with such enthusiasm I thought she’d choke laughing. Now we’re both clean and changed, the ladybug finished eating and fell asleep so I have just enough time to upload a video of the photo session we took with an amazing photographer a few days ago.
The languages spoken in the video are Estonian and Baby. The photographer gave me hats to choose from and other than the occasional “NAAAAAWW, THIS ONE HAS EARS!!!”, not much is being said.
One of the reasons I created this blog is I have done a terrible job announcing the biggest wonder of my world. The 19th of January this year was the day I gave birth to my amazing baby girl and since the little ladybug herself is sound asleep, I have time to tell the story. I have to warn you it’s not a short one nor is it for those who find giving birth revolting or scary.READ MORE
I’ve been toying with the idea of creating a blog in English for quite some time now but never really went all the way… until a good friend of mine just told me she hid my posts on Facebook because she can’t understand a single word I write. I have always very much enjoyed blogging and what better way to keep people updated?
This will all be about me and my life. Expect posts about pretty things, my beautiful daughter, the ongoing renovations in our apartement, recipes and the everyday life of our little family.
So, without further ado – welcome, I hope you enjoy your stay. Don’t forget to leave feedback – questions, comments, thoughts and ideas are always welcome. In fact, without any feedback I’ll soon become a pretty lousy blogger. Monologues aren’t as much fun!
